The Karnataka Government Research Center of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mangalore University for Collaborative Research and Development, Education and Training for the benefit of students, researchers & faculty members with a vision to reach excellence in education and research.
The MoU was signed by Prof. P. S. Yadapadithaya, Registrar, Mangalore University, Prof. C. Ranganathaiah, Director Research, Sahyadri college of Engineering & Management, and Prof. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, in the august presence of Prof K. Byrappa, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University, Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman and Dr. D. L. Prabhakara, Director, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Collaborations under this MoU are focused on, but not limited to R&D work in projects relevant to composite materials, structural engineering (dynamics, design auditing and testing), material testing and visiting faculty or R&D assignments, M.S., M.Tech., Ph.D. programs, short-term training, and short-term courses. The MOU is intended to expedite R&D of new methods and technologies that can be implemented in support of Mangalore University and Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management to enhance technological capabilities, skilled human resources and economic growth. It is aimed at enhancing the quality of research and teaching at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Mangalore University.
Prof. U.M Bhushi, Principal, welcomed the gathering and told that Engineering will grow only by the contribution of basic science research. Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, advised the faculty to make use of the MoU by exploiting the research facilities at Mangalore University. He also said that research achievements are the indicator of success in many well known foreign universities. Research Director Prof. C. Ranganathaiah explained the importance of MoU and told that the strength of any institute is measured by its strength of research. He has advised the staff members to take advantage of the MoU and make use of microtron and other facilities available at Mangalore University.
