Mr. Manjunath Bhandary deputed by AICC, New Delhi to take charge of election campaign in Karad South constituency
Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, former chief minister of Maharashtra, is contesting from Karad South constituency. Karad South constituency of Satara district in western Maharashtra is set to witness one of the most interesting battles of the 2014 state assembly elections. This is a VIP seat with a distinct political colour. Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan who is returning to the electoral arena after a 15-year gap, is the Congress candidate from this seat. He was elected to the Lok Sabha three times from Karad. He was a Rajya Sabha member after becoming Chief Minister.
Mr. Manjunath Bhandary is deputed by AICC, New Delhi to take charge of election campaign in Karad South constituency. He has started root level election campaign from the rural area of Karad and said, “We will win the elections” Prithviraj Chavan is confident the party will win the upcoming 2014 assembly election.
Chavan’s supporters are banking on Chavan’s ‘clean image’ and development work done in the city. “At a time, when the charges of corruptions are being levelled against other leaders in the state, Chavan’s clean image is our biggest advantage. After Chavan became the chief minister of the state, he pumped in around Rs 1,800 crores for various development works in the district. ” The Congress party has facts to provide to the people, to the voters and they have received that very well, and we are very credible in that respect” said Mr. Manjunath Bhandary.
