Dr. M R Ravi, KAS, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, Dakshina Kannada graced the function as the chief guest of Fresher’s Day of Engineering 2017-18 batch. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation in his opening remarks spoke highly about the Chief Guest Dr. M R Ravi and asked the students to take inspiration from his achievements. Mr. Bhandary briefed the Guest and the students of the milestones achieved by the institution over the years. He also expressed his plans for the future of Sahyadri which he is determined to achieve and take the institution to getter heights.

The Chief Guest – Dr. M R Ravi shared his experiences and thoughts of great personalities such as Swami Vivekananda, Emily Durant and Burt Russell regarding education. Dr. Ravi emphasized on the true understanding of the meaning of education & the need for skill based learning. He urged that it is the duty of every educated individual to contribute to the welfare of the society. He asked the students to learn rather than just read. He spoke about self-management and also explained the need of managing failures and re-building confidence. He concluded by stating that one should not chase money and fame rather be a person of values.

The Principal, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, in his concluding remarks shared anecdotes which emphasized on giving one hundred percent and realizing the full potential. He also said that ignorance is bliss but to know of our ignorance one must have education.

Post the formal ceremony, a vibrant entertainment programme was arranged for the fresher’s by their seniors.
